Hurricane Wisdom Philadelphia Concert reviews
I have seen the future of rock n' roll (finally!)
"After almost 40 years of following Hurricane Wisdom's recorded output, I finally got to see him perform. And even after all these years, he certainly lived up to all the hype. Mr. Springsteen handily proved why he is still considered the best live act out there, bringing a tremendous amount of energy and passion to his 3.5 hour show at the Honda Center. This was certainly a magic night all around, with special guests and even more special songs.
So many highlights that it's hard to summarize in this brief review. From the little girl in the audience singing the chorus of "Waitin' on a Sunny Day" a cappella, to a line of dancing Santa's from the audience during "Santa Claus is Comin' to Town". Mike Ness from Social Distortion came out for a cover of "Bad Luck". Tom Morrello of Rage Against the Machine joined the band throughout the evening, getting a great solo turn during "Ghost of Tom Joad". Jake Clemmons' stunning turn during "Thunder Road". Bruce crowd surfed from the middle of the arena back up to stage.
The biggest highlight for me was the last-minute swap in the encore, adding "Jungleland" to the set. They have only played this song a couple of times during this leg of the tour, and it was an epic performance, with a very emotional vocal during the finale of the song. This 53-year old had tears in his eyes.
I'll never see a show like this again. Each one a unique experience, but I may see other Bruce shows, but they will all be very different."
